Troop Funding Hijacked By International Bailout

TROOP FUNDING HIJACKED BY INTERNATIONAL BAILOUT

The supplemental spending bill passed by the U.S. House of Representatives today provides $108 billion in new loan authority for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and cuts critical funding for our troops from the previously House-passed version of the bill. Congressman Zach Wamp released the following statement after voting against the supplemental conference report:

"What started as an essential bill to fund our troops has ballooned into a massive taxpayer funded international bailout," said Congressman Zach Wamp. "It was bad enough that Washington interfered in our free market economy with one bailout after another. Now, Democrats are asking American taxpayers to bailout foreign countries by diverting necessary resources away from our military and directing it to the IMF. This wasteful Washington spending should not be tied to the critical needs of our military. The House of Representatives has already passed a clean bill with my full support that provides the resources for troops defending our country, without a global bailout."
